Can I sell mutual funds on the same day that I purchased?

The NAV of mutual funds changes once in the evening of every working day on the basis of the performance of all the tools in the portfolio. Mutual fund companies do not allow buying and selling on the same day as it is meaningless for the investors. The NAV remains same for 1 day and buying and selling at the same rate is of no good.
